Hand-drawn illustrations are a powerful and versatile tool that can greatly enrich a wide range of publications, both online and offline, across various content creators. Whether it’s traditional print books, e-books, blogs, webpages, or other digital and physical media, the inclusion of hand-drawn illustrations offers several distinct advantages. 1. **Visual Engagement**: Hand-drawn illustrations capture the audience’s attention with their unique and personal touch. In a world bombarded with stock images and generic graphics, they stand out and engage the reader, making the content more memorable. 2. **Visual Storytelling**: Illustrations are a powerful means of conveying complex ideas and stories. They can complement textual content by providing visual cues and enhancing the overall narrative. For children’s books, for example, hand-drawn illustrations bring characters and settings to life, making the story more immersive. 3. **Personalization**: Hand-drawn illustrations allow content creators to infuse their personality and style into their work. Each artist has […]

ABSL Summit is one of the key economic events in Central and Eastern Europe, organized by the Association of Business Service Leaders (ABSL). During conferences, meetings and discussion panels, global trends and their impact on economic and social development are analyzed. This year’s ABSL Summit 2023 turned out to be a huge success in terms of attendance, number of speakers and accompanying events. Many people rate the summit as one of the best in history. This year, as in previous years, I again had the opportunity to take part in this inspiring meeting and transfer the content of the event into a visual form, i.e. create visual notes for this event. During this year’s ABSL Summit in Krakow, I created 13 visual notes for 12 different meetings and discussions. I handled meetings on the main stage with the most famous participants. After each lecture or discussion, a graphic summarizing the […]
Meetings play a vital role in organizations, but all too often, they can be unproductive, uninspiring, and leave participants feeling overwhelmed. However, there’s a powerful tool that can transform the way we approach meetings and improve our understanding of best practices: visual notes. How can visual notes enhance our comprehension of meeting preparation, active participation, and introduce useful meeting tools? Here you can find an example of visual notes prepared for a client, who wanted to address four crucial parts corresponding to meetings, in order to improve meetings productiveness and efficiency. Visual notes offer a transformative approach to understanding and implementing best practices for productive meetings. By leveraging visual representations during the meeting preparation phase, actively participating with visual summaries, and utilizing meeting tools like the pizza meeting, standing meeting, rule of two feet, and the GOAT model, meetings can become more engaging, efficient, and fruitful. Embrace the power of […]
How to create an awesome internal event where you want to honor and surprise your guests? How can you convey interesting content and unique atmosphere of the event in an easy and pleasant way? I present to you a recent project in the British American Tabacco DBS business center in Warsaw. How was the process itself? First of all, kudos to the organizers of the event. They were the ones who thought about visual graphic recording, i.e. a visual record of this important meeting with the “boss of all bosses” 🙂 Fortunately, I was available at that time, so after setting the agenda and receiving the participants of the entire event, we prepared the boards for the event. It required choosing colors, placing logos and titles, and adding drawings and signatures of each participant. As usual, we had two revision rounds for this. As a result we created twelve boards! […]
In this entry I present you one of my last projects of live digital graphic recording for a Comtec Webinar on Gender Equity In Languages. You may wonder how it works and what are the advantages and disadvantages of such a process. Let me elaborate on the activity itself. Digital graphic recording is the process of creating a visual representation of an event or meeting in real-time, using digital tools. There are several reasons why digital graphic recording can be valuable for online events. Here are five reasons: Capturing key information: Digital graphic recording can help to capture the most important ideas and insights shared during an online event. The visuals created during the event can serve as a reference point for attendees and a useful tool for sharing the content of the event with others who were unable to attend. Enhancing engagement: The visual nature of digital graphic recording […]
“Excellent synchronization and a great approach to the topics that were discussed” – this is how one of the participants of the ABSL discussion panels assessed graphic recording during ABSL Diamonds Awards 2022 in Warsaw. The ABSL Diamonds is a meeting of business services leaders, organized by the Association of Business Service Leaders. This sector employs around 400,000 people and is growing very fast. Industry leaders are engaged in attracting and retaining industry talent, which requires a number of activities across many areas. During ABSL Diamonds, industry leaders discussed the current situation, prospects and initiatives for the sector in the area of talent search. The best leaders were rewarded for their pursuit of business excellence and innovation. The meeting finished with ABSL Diamonds Awards gala for all participants. This is not the first time I have been working with ABSL. I have already participated in two huge events for this […]
“This is one of the best ABSL Summits I’ve seen” I have hear a lot of times this year. And I completely agree, just take a look at the renouwn names of the speakers and the sketch notes of ABSL2022. Just take a look at the names here: Al Gore, Garry Kasparov, Mark Brzezinki and Aleksander Kwaśniewski. Additionally top managers from business service sector, representing companies like Google, Microsoft, Accenture, Amazon, Hitachi, Hewlett, Citi, Mercer, Schaeffler, Randstadt, Roche plus other important speakers both from academic and art world: Katarzyna Kasia, Szczepan Twardoch, Marcin Krupa (Mayor of Katowice) etc. made the event exceptional. But take a look at the schedule: ABSL2022 was 2.5 days of lectures, discussions, short talks and, most of all, networking resulting in valuable outcomes and sketch notes of ABSL2022 Day 0 started with a round table discussion with heads of centers, which broke the ice and gave […]
Visual facilitation is a great tool for big events like conferences or events, but it is also a very useful tool for workshops and offsite meetings, where more interaction and cooperation is needed. I have already prepared graphic recording for a team offsite, which you can see here, but this one is different. This projects was meant for the leadership of the company to help them remember the outcomes of their offsite leadership meeting. My work included preparing a one-page graphic with most important principles from the leadership meeting, which works as a hand-out for all participants. This graphic with Leadership Toolbox has Lencioni’s 5 dysfunctions of a team in the center. That pyramid shows which elements are playing a crucial role in reaching the teams goal. Around the Lencioni’s pyramid you can find equations, matrixes or models for each element: there is the trust equation, the conflict matrix, commitment […]
Growing evidence shows that Nature-based Solutions (NBS) can play a pivotal role in addressing the twin climate and biodiversity crises by delivering ecological, economic and social benefits. Environmentally literate citizens can greatly contribute to building a more sustainable society. Investing in learning about environmental sustainability means shaping a greener and fairer future for all. An EU-funded pilot initiative is proposing NBS learning pathways across schools in Europe, involving hundreds of teachers and thousands of students. Let Nature Be the Solution – European Commission Event hybrid event celebrates this initiative and provides a forum to share ideas and best-practices for the inclusion of interdisciplinary education for sustainability in school curricula. It was also the occasion to celebrate the winners of the first competition awarding teachers for their outstanding work on ‘Nature-based Solutions in Education’. Graphic Recording at this event helped all participants and also late viewers to better understand and remember […]

Watercolor illustrations have an enchanting ability to transform both online and offline materials into captivating works of art. With their delicate blend of colors and dreamy, fluid strokes, these illustrations breathe life and uniqueness into various forms of content, making them truly beautiful and one-of-a-kind. In the realm of print materials, watercolor illustrations infuse a sense of elegance and timelessness. Books adorned with these ethereal creations become more than just texts on pages; they become immersive experiences. Each brushstroke tells a story, and the soft, translucent layers of color draw readers into a world of wonder and emotion. Whether in children’s books, novels, or travel guides, watercolor illustrations have the power to evoke a sense of nostalgia and a deep connection between the reader and the content. In online materials, the magic of watercolor continues to shine. Bloggers, web designers, and content creators understand the allure of watercolor’s organic charm. […]
Visual recording is a great way to record the result of a meeting or a workshop. Take this example: at a Sales Offsite Meeting at Jodel there was a number of workshops with different stakeholders. Two days of presentations and workshops can be captured in one nice picture. Side note: sketch noting, or visual recording is about visual representation of main points of your event – it can be both a short meeting (like a 1.5h meeting here) or a seminar / webinar which lasts longer. It can also be a visualisation of a process, like here. Now let’s take a look at a 3-day event in sales department. First day was about the basics of the sales department, so visual recording included notes on the presentation and statements of the presenter. The second day was a workshop on positioning in advertising which had no fixed structure but there was […]
This is an example of SCRUM iconographic visualisation. Such an iconographic is an excellent tool to sum up and visualize all information which you can post in your blog article, e-book or in a podcast.
Today I present you my last sketch notes done for a graphic recording assignment for WeInnovators Club – a club full of people fascinated with innovations and the newest technology, who invite innovators so that they can learn about what is happening around and what is future going to look like in various topics. I had pleasure to listen to those very interesting webinars on different topics and to practice graphic recording. After preparing a template, where all the logos and photos of presenters is placed I joined the Zoom meeting and followed the presentation. While listening to it I sketch most important information by combining icons and simple phrases. These represent key points of each presenter and help to visualize the message plus are a very handful tool for later – in case the listeners forget some parts of the webinar or just would like to recollect the whole […]
I had a pleasure to take part in a workshow on diversity and inclusion held by Wunderflats and I took the opportunity to prepare a sketchnote on it. Do you know Wunderflats? This is on of the biggest German company for furnished temporary living. They connect tenants, landlords, and companies, and we accompany them through the process of renting a flat. The company itself is know for its diversity at workplace. They have very clear inclusion strategies and work strongly on having divers and rich environment. What is diversity? Why is it important? Which areas are connected with it? How do Wunderflats ensure that employees feel safe enough to tackle issues connected with no diversity at work? While listining to answers to these questions I used the skill of graphic recording to prepare a sketchnote, which can serve my colleagues to remember what was tackled in the talk. Take a look […]
