Imagine a room full of people who came from different parts of the world to talk about animal rights. In Warsaw, during CARE Conference 2025, activists, experts, lawyers, researchers and leaders of organizations gathered together. The conversations were full of passion, debates and searching for answers to one key question: how can we act more effectively?
Drawing live, I created visual notes from the event, which not only documented the discussions but also transformed them into images – something participants could return to long after the panels were over.
What stood out in the panels?
In “Are We Optimising for Our Goals?” the discussion revolved around how to measure effectiveness in animal advocacy – through numbers, the strength of the movement, or long-term change.
“Good Game, Good Advocacy” brought a lighter perspective, exploring how game mechanics and playfulness can inspire activism and community engagement.
During “Longtermism and Animal Advocacy” the focus shifted to the future: law, social norms and the risks of new technologies. Different voices – from skeptical to hopeful – came together in a valuable debate.
Equality was also in the spotlight. “Equal Footing” stressed that caring for animals must go hand in hand with inclusivity, while “Fireside Chat” reminded us that despite strategic differences, the movement is united by a shared determination to make change happen.
Why were visual notes from the event so important?
CARE Conference was an international gathering – participants spoke different languages, represented diverse cultures and brought unique perspectives. In such a context, visual notes from an event become much more than documentation. They are a universal language, capturing meaning, emotions and attention in ways words alone cannot.
Throughout the conference, drawings acted like a map – connecting perspectives that might otherwise get lost in conversation. For speakers, they were a reflection of their talks. For participants, a point of pause and reflection. And for organizers, a resource that lasts longer and continues to live on in reports, publications and online.

CARE Conference 2025 – ideas that stay longer
Conference CARE 2025 showed that the animal advocacy movement is a space of diverse voices, strategies and emotions – from serious debates on effectiveness to creative ways of engaging communities. For me, it was special to capture it live and turn those moments into images.
